New Scouts Troop for Girls Being Formed!

St. Paul United Methodist Church, long-time Charter Organization for Boy Scout Troop 148 and Cub Scout Pack 121, was the first organization in our community to reach out to the Hoosier Trails Council in support of Family Scouting. St. Paul has stepped up to be the Charter Organization for the first new all-female Scouts BSA Troop in Bloomington. Troop 1148 will launch in February 2019, and we, along with other United Methodist Churches around the country, could not be more excited about bringing the philosophy of Scouts BSA to girls as part of our youth ministry.

Julie Ramey will be the new Scoutmaster for the Scouts BSA Troop 1148 for Girls. As the former Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 136, chartered by the Marlin Elementary PTO, and a current Assistant Scoutmaster for our Scouts BSA Troop 148 for Boys, Julie brings a wealth of Scouting experience to our new Troop as well as a tremendous amount of enthusiasm.

February 5, 2019 is the first official meeting of Scouts BSA Troop 1148 for Girls. All interested girls and families are invited to attend from 7-8:30 p.m. in the Brashaber Fellowship Hall.

Troop 1148 already has its first campout on the schedule! All girls interested in joining Scouts BSA Troop 1148 for Girls are welcome to attend the campout at Camp Louis Ernst February 15-17. During this first campout, the Scouts will stay in a cabin and will spend a fun-filled weekend learning about how Scout Patrols and Troops operate, and honing camping skills.
