This year for the Mission Trip, SPY (St. Paul Youth) is headed to Benton Harbor, Michigan!

Benton Harbor is located on Lake Michigan west of Kalamazoo and northeast of South Bend. In this community, almost half of the population is living under the poverty line. This community is in sharp contrast to its “twin city” St. Joseph, which is just across the St. Joseph River, where the median income is more than double that of Benton Harbor. In other words, this is an area that is largely in need of assistance.

In order to have the largest impact we can as a small group, we will be partnering with Mosaic Ministries. Mosaic’s mission is “to create opportunities for steps to greatness as we prepare people for further education, life, and work while sharing Christ’s love.” Mosaic is actually going to be moving to a new location within Benton Harbor and they are so excited for us to come and help them move so that they can get back to doing their ministry. This may involve doing things like, moving furniture, painting, cleaning, yard work, demolition, etc. They also have some community beautification projects which they may be able to use our help.

We’re looking forward to a great week together as we serve!
